Is self care selfish?

Many of us tend to exude our energy into our loved ones and friends. We may get lost in acts of kindness to others, that some of us forget to put our needs first. Society has steered us in the direction of seeing self-care as a selfish action. This raises the question, is self care selfish?

Focusing on your mental state of being, is one of the most unselfish things you can do. There’s a big difference in giving yourself time to heal/recover, versus being selfish. Putting yourself first will help you to help others in a way like you’ve never done before.

I was watching the Ash Cash show, and he played a powerful voice note from Eric Thomas. He spoke about “Knowing others, better than yourself”. Developing a self care routine wiIl help you learn more about yourself. As soon as you can, spend some time with yourself, and figure out what you like to do, whole heartedly.

Someone who is selfish, only focuses on what something and others can do for themselves. That's not you, nope. When it’s all said and done, you have more to give.

Self-care goes together with “setting boundaries”. This is extremely important, because if you do not have these in place, you will end up giving out all of your personal energy, with nothing to give to yourself.

Show yourself some love, and truly make an effort to find your sweet spot. Do you like going on a walk for some fresh air? That's a form of self care. Do you like to go to the gym? That is also self care. Take time for yourself and it will come to you.
